Bird's Nest Fern with 6'' Pot
Regular price $39.99
- Plant Bio: Bird's Nest Fern, also known as Asplenium nidus. In the wild, these ferns are epiphytic, meaning that they grow on other plants. You will commonly see them nestled in the crook of larger tress in a rainforest setting. These ferns do not flower or produce seeds. Instead, they sporulate to reproduce. They love humidity and can handle being perpetually moist. One of the most ideal spots for a Bird's Nest Fern is nestled on a ledge near a window in a bathroom, the excess humidity usually found in the bathroom will help the fern to thrive.
- Light: Bird's Nest Ferns need filtered light to light shade. Avoid exposing the plant to direct sun. An east facing window is ideal.
- Water: These true rainforest plants love moisture. Ensure that the soil is kept moist, but not wet between waterings, it is important to still drain away excess water. A humidity tray underneath the plant is helpful, but not necessary. Also, avoid watering into the "nest" as that can encourages mold and rot. Water the soil rather than the plant.
- Special Instructions: Feed plants weekly with our Nature's Source All Purpose Plant Food during the growing season. When re-potting use a loose peat-based potting mix. The Bird's Nest Fern is pet friendly.
