Strawberry Begonia with 4'' Pot
Regular price $17.99
- Plant Bio: Strawberry Begonia, also known as Saxifraga stolonifera. Locally grown at our Tangletown Gardens Farm. Although the Strawberry Begonia looks like a true begonia, they actually fall into a different genus. Its native habitats are the temperate but above freezing areas of Japan and China, where they grow as ground covers, spreading by the proliferous red runners they produce. These are great plants to hang over a sill or edge.
- Light: Strawberry Begonia prefers bright, indirect sunlight. An east or west-facing window is perfect. Be cautious of areas that get very warm, as these plants like a cooler indoor spot.
- Water: These fast growers like a lot of water during the growing season. As with other hairy-leaved plants, avoid getting water on their leaves to reduce the risk of fungal disorders. During winter, reduce watering but don't let it dry out completely. Don't be alarmed if growth dramatically slows down or stops during the winter.
- Special Instructions: As stated above, these plants prefer a cool interior spot with indirect but bright sunlight. Feed plants weekly with our Nature's Source All Purpose Plant Food during the growing season. When re-potting use a light, all purpose potting mix. Strawberry Begonia is a pet friendly plant!
