Creeping Thyme Thymus serpyllum is very low growing (about 2-4") and has flexible woody stems with small leaves and pink to purple flowers from July to August. Creeping Thyme prefers sandy or loam soil and full sun to produce the most flowers but will grow fine in lower light conditions, where it will produce fewer flowers. Creeping thyme can be slow to get going, but once established, it puts on a show! Creeping thyme can be over-seeded into existing lawns, used as a ground cover under larger plants, or seeded around pavers and stepping stones to fill in walkways.

Seeding Information:
Creeping thyme can be seeded any time of year, just allow adequate moisture to keep seeds hydrated in warm weather. Ideally sow in late spring or early fall when temperatures are cooler. Creeping thyme can even be dormant seeded in late fall when the ground is frozen or over fresh snow throughout winter. If seeding in spring, wait until ground thaws and soil temperatures are around 55 degrees (Late April to early May for upper mid-west states).

Hardy in USDA Zones 3-9. Locally produced in Eau Claire, WI.
